STAIRCASE PRESSURIZATION
Hi, have a question here... I have designed a staircase Pressurization system to keep the 50Pa pressure Difference...i have considered VFD System Differential pressure system within the staircase at lower and higher levels...Do i need to consider the Relief Damper? if yes, can i delete the VFD and run constant speed Fan?..which is more reliable? Pls suggest
If reliability is more important I would go with a simple system. Engineering principle is: fewer parts = more stability. No sensors no VFD less things that can break or fail. Just a constant-speed fan and properly sized relief damper (set not to exceed 60 Pa).

In extent to the above sharing, I would add that all FCUs should be tested to their design flow rate. If all FCUs are ON at the same time, you may not get full flow due to diversity design. Hence, group them as per your design basis for diversity and test them in groups. That way, you ensure all FCUs can meet their designed flow and the chillers can be tested to full load.

maybe a small chiller?
I have a customer with a lab environment building. They have a 10x15 storage room storing sensitive chemicals that needs to be cooled to 60 degrees year round but they do not want a gas refrigerant used for the evaporator fan coil. My question is how to find a small enough water chiller for a room this size? I would appreciate your thoughts, Thanks!
They do not have a chiller on the building. Do you offer design help if the customer wants to go with the custom option? I could do a block load calc on the room

Relief cooling for toilets
Hi, I have a question, in one of my recent projects, I proposed relief cooling for the toilets , without any dedicated fan coil units for the toilet.relief air is recircilated fresh Air from the Energy recovery unit...can you pls confirm, if this approach also works?
It works as long as you have adequate air change in the toilet.
Dedicated cooling units for store rooms
Hi, is a dedicated fan coil unit is required for the store room..within the conditioned office space?
Depending on the store room temp requirement, usually a basic exhaust fan will do as it pulls cold air from the adjacent room for mild cooling and meet basic ventilation needs.
Energy Saving
In case of Trane Centrifugal Water Cooled Chiller of 650 TR (Primary Constant, Secondary Variable), will there be any saving from putting VFD in modulation on Cooling Tower Fan or Condenser Pump. Or will that be counter productive. What best logic to deploy to mange the trade -off. Please advise
